Amindi

hero-image

“All these songs have fun, catchy melodies that always put me in a good mood. I can listen to them no matter how I’m feeling and my day will improve.”

In the latest music video for Amindi’s track “Eggs Aisle,” each frame is adorned by meaningful accents. Whether a physical copy of Sade’s 1992 album Love Deluxe, a black Barbie doll, Amindi’s sparkly nails, or the shape of a heart inked carefully below her left eye, the elements both colorful and eye-catching come together in refreshing harmony that all feel extremely natural.

The Los Angeles based singer-songwriter has spent the last year since her 2017 breakout dancehall hit “Pine & Ginger” fine-tuning her style as a writer and recording artist. Now, back from hiatus and with more confidence than ever, she’s only just getting started. Her latest EP, 2016 (with cam, the chef), is a compilation of tracks recorded in 2016 that show the artist working with true lyrical and sonic polish. It’s an exciting prelude for what’s to come from Amindi in the near future.

Yet, while often at work cooking up her own floating ballads, she’s equally tapped in to a flock of artists bringing music to new heights. We passed Amindi the aux and she came through with some of her favorite tracks from the likes of Smino, Ariana Grande, Yung Baby Tate and others.

“All these songs have fun, catchy melodies that always put me in a good mood,” she told us via email. “I can listen to them no matter how I’m feeling and my day will improve.”
